Insurance & liability

What is covered, and what is not

What you get

  • The government compulsory insurance (Thai “Por Ror Bor”) on every bike.
  • If the bike has a problem while you have it, call us and we bring you another bike at no extra charge.

What you do not get

  • Accident insurance for the rider or a passenger.
  • Insurance for damage to the bike. All repair and damage costs are paid by the renter.

Before you travel, check whether your own travel insurance covers riding a motorbike. Many policies do not.

At handover

An 8-point check before you ride off

It takes a few minutes and makes sure you and we agree on the bike’s condition from the start.

  1. Photograph or film the whole bike, every side, including existing scratches, and have us note them on the agreement.
  2. Front and rear brakes. Squeeze them before you leave.
  3. Headlight, indicators, brake light and horn all working.
  4. Both tyres. Look at the condition and the pressure.
  5. Mirrors. Adjust them so you can see clearly behind you.
  6. Fuel level. Note it at handover and ask our team where to refuel.
  7. Helmets. Try them on and fasten the strap firmly.
  8. Our number. Save 080 9877 095 in your phone.
Riding safely

Safety tips for first-timers riding in Thailand

Traffic in Thailand differs from many countries. These are general guidelines, not a guarantee of safety. Please ride carefully at all times.

1. Keep left

Thailand drives on the left. If you are used to the right, double-check each time you leave a fuel station, car park or junction.

2. Always wear a helmet

The law requires the rider and any passenger to wear one. Fasten the strap even for a short ride. We include two helmets free.

3. Never ride after drinking

The legal alcohol limit is low and police run breath-test checkpoints. Do not ride after drinking, not even a little.

4. Start slowly somewhere quiet

If you have never ridden a scooter, practise in an open, quiet area first: pulling away, braking, turning. Learn where both brake levers are and squeeze them gently and together.

5. Expect others not to signal

Other vehicles may turn, U-turn or cut across lanes without indicating. Keep your distance and look both ways at junctions and roundabouts.

6. Watch the road surface

Wet roads, sand, gravel, leaves and potholes can make a bike slide easily. Slow down before bends and in the rain.

7. Avoid riding at night outside town

Some rural roads are unlit and may have animals, trucks or vehicles with no lights. Plan long rides to finish before dark.

8. Dress for it

Wear closed shoes or trainers, long trousers and sunglasses. Avoid flip-flops. Carry a rain jacket in the wet season.

9. Two people at most

A maximum of two: one rider and one passenger. Do not overload the bike, and do not carry a child without a helmet.

10. No phone while riding

Pull over to check a map or take a call. If you navigate by phone, use a secure phone holder.

11. Park and lock it properly

Park somewhere visible, lock the steering, and do not leave valuables in the under-seat box.

12. Check your travel insurance

Some travel policies do not cover riding a motorbike. Our bikes carry only the compulsory insurance, so check your own cover before you come.
